What is a 3D Slicer?
A 3D slicer is the software that takes your 3D model and prepares it for printing by converting it into layers of printable information, called G-code. It manages parameters such as print speed, temperatures and support structures to create an optimal printing process.
Do you need a 3D Slicer?
Some companies, such as Bambulab, have developed ultra-custom printers and software, such as MakerWorld, that allow printing ready-made sliced files. This process is referred to often used for each model. Finished sliced files are also popular if you use e.g xyzcontrol.

3D Model
A 3D model in either .stp or .stl file is exported from either a CAD software or downloaded from a 3D model site

The file is transferred to a 3D slicer which in turn adapts the model for a specific 3D printer.
3D Printer
A 3D printer is prepared by transferring a pre-sliced .gcode from the slicer platform to the 3D printer via USB, SD or wireless transfer.
