The raw material

A good filament is decided before it's extruded.

We could have bought cheap pellets and put a low price on the spool. Instead we buy one of the most expensive — Luminy® LX175 from TotalEnergies Corbion, the same premium polymer used in medical technology and food packaging — and cut out the middleman.

LX175 is odourless, with high purity and even viscosity. You notice it as a stable melt in the nozzle: consistent diameter, layers that bond to each other, and the same result on spool number twenty as on the first.

The raw material is renewable, GMO-free and grown to the Bonsucro standard. That's why the price can be a third of the shelf price without anything in the spool being third-rate.

01Sugarcane, not crude oil

The cane binds carbon dioxide as it grows and is harvested year after year. No fossil feedstock anywhere in the chain.

02Polymerised into LX175

The sugar is fermented into lactic acid and built into high-purity pellets at TotalEnergies Corbion.

03Drawn into filament

The pellets are extruded to a ±0.02 mm tolerance, test-printed from the batch and vacuum-packed with a silica gel sachet.

The colour

And we take colour as seriously as the polymer.

Most shops sell “black” and “green” and leave you to guess. We have 173+ shades, and every single colour is matched against a physical test print before it's listed — so the shade on screen is the one you get in your hand.

Every shade has its own name and a short description of how it looks when printed – matte or glossy, and how visible the layers are.
