Quality and tolerance

Two things decide how a filament behaves in the printer: the plastic it is made from, and how evenly the strand holds its diameter. Here are both — with the figures from our own data sheets, the same ones shown on every product page.

Diameter tolerance

How precise is the strand?

The diameter tolerance states how far the strand may deviate from 1.75 mm along the whole spool. ±0.02 mm means the diameter stays between 1.73 and 1.77 mm.

The printer feeds a set length of filament and assumes the diameter is the same all the way. When the diameter is even, the flow is even — which is what gives consistent walls and surfaces without thin or overfilled sections.

The values come from the same catalogue as the product pages, so they always match the shop.

Premium quality from the raw material up

Made from Luminy® LX175 — world-class bioplastic

A filament's quality is decided before it is even extruded. That is why all our PLA filaments — PLA, PLA PRO and PLA Silk — are made exclusively from Luminy® LX175, a premium polymer from TotalEnergies Corbion, one of the world's leading producers of bio-based PLA.

LX175 is an odourless PLA grade with high purity and consistent viscosity. It gives a stable melt during extrusion, which you notice as a consistent diameter, reliable adhesion between layers and prints of the same high quality — spool after spool.

The raw material is renewable, GMO-free and grown to the Bonsucro standard, and at the end of its life cycle the material is industrially compostable to EN 13432 — certified by TÜV Austria.
